Why Choose Craniosacral Therapy For Your Infant or Child?

Encumbered fetal growth and the birthing process can have significant effects on the physical and neurological development of infants. Usually these effects are subtle nuances that a healthy baby's system will resolve on their own through actions such as breastfeeding, crying, and yawning.  Other times, when an occurrence is greater than your baby can handle, added support may be necessary to help your child live with a greater sense of ease.  Using gentle and supportive manual techniques, craniosacral therapy can help remove limitations on the musculoskeletal system, nerves, organs, and fascial body, and improve flow of the cerebral spinal fluid, to optimize your infant's health and well-being.

As babies grow and become mobile, the chances of bumps and bruises grow exponentially, at which time CST may be indicated to help relieve seemingly disconnected symptoms that may arise, such as sleep disturbance, noise or light sensitivity, decreased appetite or ability to focus, etc.  When children meet adolescense, the hormonal stresses of puberty, increased responsibility, and social engagement can be overwhelming feats which CST can help them meet with a greater sense of grace.

When I was a new mother, I had no idea where to turn when my infant rolled off the bed (she didn't know how to roll over when she went to sleep!) or when my five year old fell off the monkey bars the day after bonking his noggin at the playground, resulting in a secondary concussion and seizure.  I knew of CST, but unfortunately didn't know it could be an effective treatment for infants and children in these circumstances.  The medical professionals I reached out to implied that my kids were fine, but as their parent, I saw changes, I knew they were trying to manage overwhelming forces.  When I finally did learn of all the ways CST could be used to help children, my heart filled, and I knew this would be a large part of my developing practice.  Not only did I want to support the health of littles, I also wanted to help ease parental grief and frustration.

While certifying in CST, my kiddos (ages 6 and 13 at the time) were my fearless practice bodies.  What a gift to me and them!  We were able to harmonize our nervous systems together, experience what it feels like to be sensed as fluid beings, and release unresolved holding patterns growing closer to operating at our clearest capacity in body, mind, and spirit.
